Ecuador stands as one the most bio-diverse countries on the planet. This study abroad program will take place in Quito, the country's capital, recognized as the "cultural capital" of Latin America, and described as “the most beautiful big city in South America.” This short-term study abroad program will allow students to explore Ecuador from a multi-disciplinary perspective, with a particular emphasis on the idea of developing “global citizens.” Through films, short articles, stories, local news papers, guest speakers, and fieldtrips, students will compare and contrast the higher education system in Ecuador with the U.S. The course will provide opportunities to examine current challenges and opportunities, allowing students to experience, scrutinize, and reflect upon these issues from a global perspective.
